Our Market
The online gambling market continues to benefit from long-term digitalisation, mobile-first user behaviour, and the regulation of previously fragmented markets. Acroud’s market exposure is international, with a strong presence across South America, predominantly Brazil, Africa and Europe.
South America represents an increasingly important region for regulated online betting and gaming. Brazil, in particular, has rapidly become one of the most significant regulated online betting markets globally. According to Brazil’s Ministry of Finance, approximately 17.7 million Brazilians placed fixed-odds bets through authorised operators during the first half of 2025, with authorised operators generating gross gaming revenue of R$17.4 billion during the period.
Africa represents a diverse and developing region for online betting and iGaming. According to market analysts, Africa’s online gambling industry has grown rapidly, supported by increasing internet access, mobile penetration and favourable demographics. It is estimated that, under sensible regulation, the African sports betting and iGaming market could be worth $22 billion in gross gaming revenue by 2029.
Europe remains an important and well-established online gambling region. Market analysis suggests that European online gross gaming revenue is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 6.9% between 2024 and 2029, supported by continued digitalisation and increasing online penetration across regulated markets.
Across markets, online casino and sports betting remain key verticals for operators and marketing partners. In Europe, it is estimated that online casinos represented 45% of online gambling gross gaming revenue in 2024, while sports betting represented 29%. The continued growth of these verticals supports demand for customer acquisition, compliant content, affiliate network infrastructure and data-driven optimisation.
Mobile remains a key driver of online gambling growth. It is estimated that mobile devices generated 58% of European online gambling revenue in 2024 and forecasts suggest this share to increase to 67% by 2029. Similar mobile-first behaviour is evident across many international online betting and gaming markets, where smartphones are often the primary user interface for digital entertainment, payments and financial transactions.
Affiliate and performance marketing are important customer acquisition channels for online gambling operators. Acroud is uniquely positioned to take part in this growth journey throughout the coming years through the implementation of our strategic focus points.
